Vieira de Sousa Fine White Port
Pickup currently not available
Vieira de Sousa Fine White Port is a white Port from the Douro Valley, blended by a family Port house from Malvasia Fina, Rabigato, Viosinho and Gouveio. It is a versatile bottle: pour it chilled before dinner, or keep it for the cheese and dessert at the end.
Tasting notes
A brownish gold colour and a nose of dried fruit. Long skin maceration and an oxidative style give it a wider range of aromas than most young white Ports, with a sweet, smooth finish. The grapes are hand-picked, foot-trodden in stone lagares, and the blend is aged in stainless steel. 19.5% vol.
Food pairing
Try it with salted almonds or cured ham as an aperitif, then with pastéis de nata, toucinho do céu, a fruit tart or a soft sheep cheese such as Queijo de Azeitão. It also works with tonic and a slice of lemon.
About Vieira de Sousa
Vieira de Sousa is a family Port house that has made Port wine for five generations and is now run by Luísa and Maria Vieira de Sousa. Grapes from the family vineyards in the Douro are still foot-trodden in traditional stone lagares at their winery in Sabrosa.
