Las Vedras
Las Vedras Pero Negro Red 2019
Pickup currently not available
Las Vedras Pero Negro Red 2019 is a Portuguese red wine from Torres Vedras, in the Lisbon region, made by Sónia Raposo and Pedro Marques from Castelão and Tinta Miúda. It comes from a tiny organically farmed estate and is made with as little intervention as possible, for those who like a red with character and freshness.
Tasting notes
The Castelão goes into the vat in whole clusters, the Tinta Miúda destemmed, and the wine is fermented and aged in a single 500-litre barrel. Tasters describe the 2019 as dry and medium-bodied, with blackberry, plum and black pepper, bright acidity and approachable tannins.
Food pairing
Pour it with grilled porco preto secretos, chouriço assado, a mushroom rice or a slow-roasted leg of lamb.
About Las Vedras
Las Vedras is the project of Sónia Raposo and Pedro Marques, whose cellar is in the village of Pero Negro, near the Serra de Montejunto. They farm about 2 hectares organically, train their vines in the traditional low goblet called asas de mosca, and aim to add no sulphites.
