Vieira de Sousa
Vieira de Sousa 20 Year Old White Port
Pickup currently not available
Vieira de Sousa 20 Year Old White Port is an aged white Port from the Douro Valley, made by a family Port house from Malvasia Fina, Rabigato, Verdelho and Gouveio. Old white Port is one of the rarest styles in the Douro, and this one is a bottle to open slowly, with people who like to talk about what is in their glass.
Tasting notes
Deep gold in the glass. A fine, elegant nose of walnut, orange peel and dried figs, with great aromatic complexity. The grapes are foot-trodden in stone lagares with long skin contact, and the lots, drawn from old wines, spend decades in large casks before blending. 20% vol.
Food pairing
Serve it with aged cheeses such as Queijo da Serra Velho, foie gras, toasted walnuts and dried figs, crème brûlée, or with toucinho do céu and other almond and egg sweets from Portuguese convents.
About Vieira de Sousa
Vieira de Sousa is a family Port house that has made Port wine for five generations and is now run by Luísa and Maria Vieira de Sousa. Grapes from the family vineyards in the Douro are still foot-trodden in traditional stone lagares at their winery in Sabrosa.
