Vale da Capucha
Vale da Capucha Arinto White 2019
Pickup currently not available
Vale da Capucha Arinto White 2019 is a single-variety Portuguese white wine made from Arinto by Pedro Marques in Torres Vedras, in the Lisbon region, from organic vines on limestone close to the Atlantic. Arinto keeps its acidity for years, so this 2019 is a chance to taste a Lisbon white with some age on it.
Tasting notes
Linear and chalky, with citrus, a clear mineral line and a long, sharp finish. The estate's UK importer describes 2019 as a warm, powerful vintage, with time in barrel adding an extra layer. Native yeasts, no fining, no filtration.
Food pairing
Oysters and clams, fish crudo, grilled dourada, or leitão, the roast suckling pig of central Portugal, which its acidity cuts through well.
About Vale da Capucha
The Marques family grew grapes for four generations before Pedro Marques began bottling estate wines. He replanted the vineyards with Portuguese varieties and farms them organically on Kimmeridgian limestone and clay, about 10 km from the sea.
Good to know
- Serve at 11-13 °C, not too cold, so the aromas open. Keeps 3 days in the fridge once opened.
- Still white wine, 100% Arinto.
- A good gift for someone who thinks Portugal only makes reds. Ask us about it at our bar in Graça.
