Textura da Estrela Red

Textura da Estrela Red is a Portuguese red wine from the Dão, a blend of old-vine field blend, Touriga Nacional, Jaen and Alfrocheiro grown on granite in Vila Nova de Tazem, on the slopes of the Serra da Estrela. It is a refined, fresh Dão red for people who like elegance more than power.

Tasting notes

Floral on the nose, with cherry, red berries, pine and herbs. The palate is savoury and supple, with earthy, mineral notes, fine velvety tannins, a little stemmy spice and a dry, peppery finish. Part of the grapes ferment as whole bunches and the wine then ages about 15 months in a large wooden vat and used French oak.

Food pairing

Try it with roast kid or lamb, a mushroom risotto, duck rice (arroz de pato), alheira, or a plate of cured Serra da Estrela cheese.

About Textura

Textura is a family winery founded in 2018 in the Dão, with seven organically farmed plots on the granite slopes of the Serra da Estrela. Winemaking is led by Luís Seabra, one of Portugal's most admired winemakers.

• Serve at 15-17 °C. Keeps 2 to 3 days once opened, cork in.
