Terras de Sal
Terras de Sal RAW Flor de Sal from Castro Marim 250 g
Pickup currently not available
Terras de Sal RAW Flor de Sal from Castro Marim 250 g is a Portuguese flor de sal from Castro Marim, in the eastern Algarve, harvested by hand by the Terras de Sal salt makers' cooperative. It is the finishing salt we reach for at home: a pinch on a tomato, a grilled fish or a slice of bread with olive oil changes everything.
Flavour and texture
Flor de sal is the fine crust of crystals that forms on the surface of the salt pans on hot, calm days, gathered by hand with a wooden rake before it sinks. The flakes are delicate and slightly moist, they crunch under the teeth and melt quickly, with a clean, rounded saltiness that is gentler than table salt.
Food pairing
Use it at the end, never in the cooking water. Scatter it over grilled sardines, ripe tomatoes, fried eggs, a steak or even dark chocolate. A glass of chilled Algarve white or Vinho Verde is never a bad idea alongside.
