Quinta de Paços
Quinta de Paços Casa do Capitão-Mor Alvarinho Reserva White
Pickup currently not available
Casa do Capitão-Mor Alvarinho Reserva is a Portuguese white wine from Monção e Melgaço, the Alvarinho heartland of the Vinho Verde region, made by Quinta de Paços. This is serious Alvarinho: dry, mineral and long, a step up from the light, spritzy Vinho Verde many people know.
Tasting notes
Critics describe the Reserva as firmer and more restrained than the estate's standard cuvée, with stone fruit and apricot, a chiselled mineral feel and a long, saline finish carried by bright acidity. With a little air it opens up toward citrus peel and a hint of ginger.
Food pairing
Pour it with grilled sea bass, arroz de marisco, cod with chickpeas or a plate of fresh oysters. It has enough body for white meat, such as roast chicken with lemon.
About Quinta de Paços
The grapes come from Quinta da Boavista in Monção, a 13th-century estate less than a kilometre from the river Minho. The wine is named after a former owner who was capitão-mor, the governor, of Monção.
