Quinta da Murta
Quinta da Murta Bucelas Sparkling
Pickup currently not available
Quinta da Murta Bucelas Sparkling is a white Portuguese sparkling wine from Quinta da Murta, a small estate in Bucelas, just north of Lisbon, where Arinto is the main grape. It is a crisp, lively bottle to open before dinner, and a local alternative to Champagne when you want bubbles with a Lisbon accent.
Tasting notes
Bucelas is known for Arinto, a grape that keeps its sharp acidity even in warm years. Expect a dry, citrus-led sparkling wine with green apple, a chalky edge and a clean, saline finish.
Food pairing
Try it with oysters or amêijoas, a plate of presunto, fried pastéis de bacalhau, or salty fresh cheese from the Serra.
About Quinta da Murta
The estate farms about 14 hectares on a slope around 250 metres high, roughly 70% Arinto, and bottled its first harvest in 1994. It is one of the historic names of DOC Bucelas, a tiny white-wine appellation once praised in Shakespeare's England.
