Murgas Touriga Franca Red

Murgas Touriga Franca Red is a single-variety Portuguese red wine from the Lisbon wine region, made from Touriga Franca. Touriga Franca is best known as a key grape of the Douro and of Port, so a varietal version grown near the Atlantic is a nice surprise for curious drinkers.

Tasting notes

Touriga Franca is known for its red and black fruit, floral notes such as rose and its firm but fine tannins. In the cooler Lisbon region it tends to give a fresher, more supple red than in the Douro.

Food pairing

Try it with bifanas, grilled pork ribs, a hearty feijoada, roast chicken piri-piri or a mature cheese from the Beiras.

About Murgas

Murgas is a producer from the Lisbon wine region, the long Atlantic strip of vineyards north of the capital, where cool sea breezes keep the wines fresh and moderate in alcohol.

• Serve at 15-17 °C. Keeps 2 to 3 days once opened, cork in.
