João Tavares de Pina
João Tavares de Pina Lero Lero Red
Pickup currently not available
Lero Lero is a light Portuguese red wine from the Dão, made by João Tavares de Pina at Quinta da Boavista in Penalva do Castelo, mostly from Jaen with a little Touriga Nacional. Lero lero is Portuguese slang for idle chatter, and this is the wine for long, easy conversations. Fresh, juicy and gently wild, it is a bottle that disappears fast.
Tasting notes
Jaen, the grape known as Mencía in Spain, is fermented in whole bunches and aged around nine months in stainless steel. Expect raspberry and red berries, a lifted floral note, a mineral streak and a little natural funk. The palate is soft, silky and lip-smacking. Serve it with a light chill.
Food pairing
Great with charcuterie, roast chicken, grilled sardines, mushroom dishes, or a simple bowl of pasta.
About João Tavares de Pina
João Tavares de Pina and his wife Luísa moved to Quinta da Boavista in Penalva do Castelo in the early 1990s. They replanted all 13 hectares of vines and now grow around 50 native grape varieties, some of them nearly lost.
