Gorreana Green Tea with Pennyroyal, Loose Leaf

Gorreana Green Tea with Pennyroyal, Loose Leaf is a Portuguese green tea with pennyroyal, in loose leaf, from São Miguel, in the Azores, made by Gorreana, the oldest tea plantation in Europe still in production. A deeply Portuguese flavour, fresh and herbal, for those who like a tea with character.

Tasting notes

Gorreana green tea is typically gentle and fresh, with grassy, lightly sweet notes and very little bitterness. Pennyroyal, poejo in Portuguese, is a wild mint with an intense, slightly peppery freshness, a herb of Portuguese tradition used in Alentejo soups and in licor de poejo.

Food pairing

Serve it after a meal of açorda or migas, or with simple biscuits and dried fruit.

About Gorreana

Founded in 1883 on the north coast of São Miguel, Gorreana is the oldest tea plantation in Europe still in production. Its tea grows on volcanic soil, without herbicides, pesticides or fungicides, and the estate handles every step from leaf to packet.

Good to know

• Brew with water at about 80 °C for 2 to 3 minutes.
• Loose leaf tea. Use about one teaspoon per cup. Keep it closed, dry and away from light and strong smells.
