Gorreana
Gorreana Black Tea with Peppermint, Loose Leaf
Pickup currently not available
Gorreana Black Tea with Peppermint, Loose Leaf is a Portuguese black tea with peppermint, in loose leaf, from São Miguel, in the Azores, made by Gorreana, the oldest tea plantation in Europe still in production. Loose leaves give a fuller, more aromatic cup: warming tea with a cool, minty finish.
Tasting notes
Gorreana black tea is typically smooth and rounded, with notes of malt, dried fruit and a hint of honey. Here it meets peppermint, which brings a cool, clean freshness that lifts the malty depth of the tea.
Food pairing
Serve it after a hearty meal of cozido or feijoada, or with dark chocolate, almond biscuits or a slice of bolo de mel from Madeira.
About Gorreana
Gorreana is a tea estate on the north coast of São Miguel, in the Azores. Founded in 1883, it is the oldest tea plantation in Europe still in production. About 32 hectares of tea grow there on volcanic soil, without herbicides, pesticides or fungicides, and the estate handles every step from leaf to packet. The plantation and its factory are open to visitors, one of the loveliest stops on the island.
