Fraga Alta
Fraga Alta Reserva Red 2008
Pickup currently not available
Fraga Alta Reserva Red 2008 is a Portuguese red wine from the Douro valley, a Reserva from the 2008 vintage that has already spent many years in bottle. Mature Douro reds are hard to find at a fair price, and this one lets you taste what time does to the valley's wines. A good bottle for a long dinner.
Tasting notes
With age, Douro reds usually trade bright fruit for dried plum, fig, leather, spice and earthy notes, and the tannins soften and turn silky. Expect a mellow, savoury wine rather than a fruit bomb. Each old bottle can vary a little, which is part of the pleasure.
Food pairing
Pair it with roast kid or lamb, wild boar stew, game, or a well-aged Serra or Azeitão cheese.
About Fraga Alta
Fraga Alta is a Douro DOC label built on the valley's native grapes. We stock it for honest, everyday Douro drinking at a fair price.
