Fonte da Bica Shiitake Mushrooms in Olive Oil with Onion is a jar of shiitake mushrooms preserved in olive oil with onion, from the Fonte da Bica brand. A vegetarian petisco to put on the table next to cheese, bread and a bottle of wine.

Flavour and texture

Shiitake mushrooms have a meaty texture and a deep, savoury, almost smoky flavour. Kept in olive oil with onion, they turn soft and slightly sweet, and the oil picks up their taste.

Food pairing

Serve them on toast, with fresh or cured cheese, in a salad, with scrambled eggs, or tossed through pasta or rice. Use the oil for dressings. A light red from Lisbon or a Baga rosé is a good match.

About Fonte da Bica
