Fitapreta A Laranja Mecânica Orange Wine
Pickup currently not available
A Laranja Mecânica is an Alentejo orange wine from Fitapreta, a skin-contact field blend of Arinto, Roupeiro, Verdelho, Antão Vaz, Trincadeira das Pratas, Alicante Branco and Fernão Pires. Its name nods to A Clockwork Orange, and it has become a reference for Portuguese orange wine. Textured, aromatic and food-friendly, it wins over curious drinkers fast.
Tasting notes
The grapes macerate on their skins for about a week, ferment spontaneously in steel and are bottled unfiltered. The producer describes a honey-orange colour, candied orange and quince on the nose, and a bold, textured palate with fresh acidity.
Food pairing
Try it with Indian or Thai curries, roast pork belly, pumpkin and chickpea stew, mezze, or strong cheeses.
