Flavour and texture

Whole sardines in olive oil, the great classic of Portuguese canning. The fish is soft and rich, with a full taste of the sea, and the oil is good enough to mop up with bread.

Food pairing

Serve on toasted bread with a squeeze of lemon, with tomato and onion, with boiled potatoes, or straight from the tin. Pour a Vinho Verde or an Arinto from Bucelas.

About Tricana

Tricana is one of the three brands of Conserveira de Lisboa, alongside Minor and Prata do Mar. The house was founded in 1930 and still trades from its historic shop on Rua dos Bacalhoeiros, in Lisbon's Baixa, where its colourful paper-wrapped tins are still sold.
