Confibor
Confibor Elvas Dried Candied Plums 200 g
Pickup currently not available
Confibor Elvas Dried Candied Plums 200 g is a Portuguese candied fruit from Elvas, in the Alentejo, the town famous for its sugared greengage plums. A traditional Portuguese sweet to share after dinner or to slip into a Christmas hamper.
Flavour and texture
Elvas plums are greengages slowly cooked in sugar syrup, then dried. The result is chewy and tender, with a sugar-frosted skin, a honeyed sweetness and the gentle tang of the plum underneath.
Food pairing
Serve them with coffee, alongside a cheese board with a cured Alentejo sheep's cheese, or chopped into cakes. A glass of tawny port or Moscatel de Setúbal is the classic match.
About Confibor and Elvas
Elvas is a frontier town in the Alentejo, close to the Spanish border, whose fortifications are a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is famous across Portugal for its candied fruit, above all the greengage plums known as ameixas d'Elvas, which carry a protected designation of origin.
