Caves São João
Caves São João Poço do Lobo Cabernet Sauvignon Reserva Red 1995
Pickup currently not available
Poço do Lobo Cabernet Sauvignon Reserva 1995 is a mature Bairrada red wine from Quinta do Poço do Lobo, bottled by Caves São João. It is a rare chance to drink a Portuguese red with almost three decades of age, from one of the historic family houses of Bairrada.
Tasting notes
At 12.5% alcohol, this is a classic, lighter-framed Cabernet. With this much bottle age you can expect the fruit to have moved towards dried cherry and plum, with cedar, leather, tobacco and forest floor, and soft, resolved tannins. Each old bottle is a little different.
Food pairing
Pair it with roast duck rice, a simple steak with sea salt, mushrooms on toast, or an aged Serra da Estrela.
