Brejinho da Costa
Brejinho da Costa Bagaceira Nova Grape Marc Spirit
Pickup currently not available
Brejinho da Costa Bagaceira Nova is a young Portuguese bagaceira, a clear grape marc spirit distilled from the skins and seeds left after winemaking and bottled without long ageing. Nova means young: this is bagaceira in its most direct form, the one Portuguese grandparents keep in the cupboard for after lunch.
Tasting notes
Young bagaceira is usually clear and powerful, with a frank aroma of grape skins, fresh fruit and a slightly rustic, herbal edge, and a dry, warming finish. Pour a small measure and sip it slowly.
Food pairing
Serve it chilled or at cellar temperature after a heavy meal such as cozido à portuguesa or feijoada, or add a few drops to an espresso for a cheirinho. It also works with dried fruit and a piece of strong cheese.
About bagaceira
Bagaceira is Portugal's grape marc spirit, distilled from the skins and seeds left after the grapes are pressed for wine. Every wine region has its own, and it is still poured after a big lunch, or added to a coffee to make a cheirinho.
