António Madeira
António Madeira White
António Madeira White is a Dão white wine from António Madeira, grown on granite in the foothills of the Serra da Estrela. It is a mountain white with tension and depth, a fine introduction to one of the most respected new names in Portuguese wine.
Tasting notes
Dão whites from granite and altitude, often led by grapes such as Encruzado, Malvasia Fina or Bical, are known for citrus, orchard fruit and resin notes, with firm acidity and a mineral, slightly smoky finish. They gain complexity with a little air.
Food pairing
Serve it with roast cod with chickpeas, a creamy Serra da Estrela cheese, pork loin with apples, or mushroom tart.
About António Madeira
António Madeira grew up in France in a Portuguese family and came back to the Dão to work old vineyards near the Serra da Estrela. His wines are made in small quantities with minimal intervention.
