Vinho da Ordem
Vinho da Ordem Red
Pickup currently not available
Vinho da Ordem Red is a Beira Interior red wine from old local grape varieties grown at 570 metres in Valhelhas, in the Serra da Estrela. It is a mountain red with freshness first, made in tiny batches with minimal intervention, the kind of Portuguese wine you rarely find outside the region.
Tasting notes
The estate grows around 16 varieties, including red grapes such as Rufete, Jaen, Bastardo, Marufo and Baga, often as field blends. Expect a light to medium body, red fruit, a herbal, granite-mountain freshness and a lively finish.
Food pairing
Serve it with roast kid, mountain sausages, bean and cabbage stew (feijoada) or a slice of Serra da Estrela cheese.
About Vinho da Ordem
Vinho da Ordem is the family project of engineer Pedro Jerónimo, whose family has held the land for four generations. The vineyard lies at about 570 metres in Valhelhas, in the Serra da Estrela Natural Park, on a site linked to medieval religious orders including the Templars, and has been in conversion to organic farming since 2022.
