Vinho da Ordem
Vinho da Ordem Palhete
Pickup currently not available
Vinho da Ordem Palhete is a Beira Interior palhete, a pale Portuguese wine between red and rosé, from vines at 570 metres in Valhelhas, in the Serra da Estrela. It brings back a style that the producers link to the light red wines of medieval times, and it is lovely slightly chilled on a warm day.
Tasting notes
Palhete is traditionally made with a short skin contact, often with red and white grapes together. Expect a pale colour, red berries, cherry and a herbal note, a light body and refreshing acidity.
Food pairing
Great with grilled sardines, petiscos such as presunto and olives, roast chicken or a tomato and bread salad.
About Vinho da Ordem
Vinho da Ordem is the family project of engineer Pedro Jerónimo, whose family has held the land for four generations. The vineyard lies at about 570 metres in Valhelhas, in the Serra da Estrela Natural Park, on a site linked to medieval religious orders including the Templars, and has been in conversion to organic farming since 2022.
