Vinho da Ordem
Vinho da Ordem Orange Wine
Vinho da Ordem Branco is a Portuguese orange wine from Beira Interior, white grapes macerated for 7 days on their skins, from vines at 570 metres in the Serra da Estrela. It is a skin-contact white with mountain freshness and texture, made in very small quantities.
Tasting notes
The estate grows old white varieties such as Fonte Cal and Síria. A week on the skins usually gives a golden colour, light tannins, and notes of citrus peel, dried apricot and herbs, with a dry, savoury finish.
Food pairing
Pair it with grilled octopus, roast pork, a chickpea and spinach stew, or a mature sheep cheese.
About Vinho da Ordem
Vinho da Ordem is the family project of engineer Pedro Jerónimo, whose family has held the land for four generations. The vineyard lies at about 570 metres in Valhelhas, in the Serra da Estrela Natural Park, on a site linked to medieval religious orders including the Templars, and has been in conversion to organic farming since 2022.
