Vila das Rainhas Ginja de Óbidos Sour Cherry Liqueur, in a 3 L box, is a Portuguese sour cherry liqueur from Óbidos, made by Frutóbidos in the village of Amoreira. Three litres of ginja is a party in a box: for weddings, family celebrations or a generous bar at home.

Tasting notes

Ginja is made by macerating sour cherries in alcohol with sugar. It is typically deep ruby red, sweet and warming, with a juicy sour cherry flavour, a hint of almond from the stone and a long, fruity finish.

Food pairing

In Óbidos it is famously served in a little chocolate cup. Pour it after dinner with chocolate desserts, pastéis de nata or a slice of queijo da Serra.

About Vila das Rainhas

Vila das Rainhas is the ginja brand of Frutóbidos, a fruit liqueur maker in Amoreira, Óbidos, founded by Joaquim Albano. The name means the town of queens: in the 13th century King Dinis gave Óbidos to Queen Isabel as a wedding gift, a tradition that lasted for centuries.
