Vila das Rainhas Ginja de Óbidos Miniature is a Portuguese sour cherry liqueur from Óbidos, the medieval walled town north of Lisbon, in a small bottle. It is the easiest souvenir to bring home from Lisbon, and a sweet little thank-you gift.

Tasting notes

Ginja is made by steeping ginja sour cherries in alcohol with sugar. Expect a deep ruby colour, ripe and sour cherry, a hint of almond and a sweet, warming finish.

Food pairing

Sip it after a meal, with dark chocolate, a pastel de nata or a slice of cherry cake.

Vila das Rainhas is a ginja house from Óbidos, the walled medieval town north of Lisbon whose name is tied to ginja. Óbidos was once a wedding gift from Portuguese kings to their queens, which is where the name Vila das Rainhas, the town of the queens, comes from.
