Vieira de Sousa Vintage Port 2019

Vieira de Sousa Vintage Port 2019 is a Portuguese fortified wine from the Douro Valley, a single-year Port from Quinta da Água Alta made from Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz, Tinto Cão and other old-vine grapes. Vintage is the top style of ruby Port, a bottle to drink now with air or to lay down for years.

Tasting notes

The house describes a highly concentrated wine with deep colour, fruity and fresh, with powerful, rich tannins, a very robust body and a long, dry finish. The grapes come from the Água Alta and Bom Dia vineyards, over 40 years old, south-facing on schist. 19.5% alcohol.

Food pairing

Pour it with a dark chocolate dessert, a mature Stilton or Serra da Estrela, roasted walnuts, or a game terrine.

Vieira de Sousa is a family Port house that has made wine in the Douro for five generations. Today it is led by sisters Luísa and Maria Vieira de Sousa, who still follow the teachings of António Eduardo Vieira de Sousa Borges.
