Vieira de Sousa Vintage Port 2009
Pickup currently not available
Vieira de Sousa Vintage Port 2009 is a single-estate Vintage Port from the Douro Valley, made only from Quinta do Roncão Pequeno with Touriga Nacional, Touriga Francesa, Tinta Roriz and other old Douro varieties. Vintage Port is the top of the Port pyramid, a wine from a single declared year, and a 2009, now more than fifteen years past its harvest, is a serious bottle for a serious table.
Tasting notes
Highly concentrated, with an opaque colour, fresh fruit aromas, full body, rich tannins and a robust, long finish. The south-facing vines are over 40 years old on schist, with more than ten grape varieties planted together. Grapes were hand-picked into small boxes, sorted, destemmed and foot-trodden in stone lagares. 20% vol.
Food pairing
Serve it with Queijo da Serra or Stilton, dark chocolate, walnuts, or a slow-cooked game dish.
About Vieira de Sousa
Vieira de Sousa is a family Port house that has made Port wine for five generations and is now run by Luísa and Maria Vieira de Sousa. Grapes from the family vineyards in the Douro are still foot-trodden in traditional stone lagares at their winery in Sabrosa.
