Várzea da Pedra Castelão Red

Várzea da Pedra Castelão is a Portuguese red wine made from Castelão, one of the most planted red grapes of southern and central Portugal. It is a friendly, food loving red that shows what this traditional grape can do on its own.

Tasting notes

Castelão is known for red cherry, plum and redcurrant fruit, sometimes with a light smoky or earthy note, medium body and fresh acidity. It makes juicy, approachable reds that are easy to pair.

Food pairing

Pour it with bifanas, pork with clams (carne de porco à alentejana), grilled chicken piri piri, or a tomato and chouriço pasta.
