Vale da Capucha
Vale da Capucha Palhete 2023
Pickup currently not available
Vale da Capucha Palhete 2023 is a Portuguese palhete from Torres Vedras, in the Lisbon wine region, made by Pedro Marques on his organic family estate close to the Atlantic. Palhete is an old Portuguese style, a light red made by fermenting red and white grapes together, and it is coming back for good reason: it is fresh, easy to drink and lovely with a slight chill.
Tasting notes
Expect a pale, bright red in the glass, light body, red fruit and a crisp, refreshing finish. Palhete sits between a rosé and a red: more texture than a rosé, less weight and tannin than a classic tinto. The estate works with native yeasts and a light hand in the cellar.
Food pairing
Serve it with grilled sardines, petiscos such as pica-pau or chouriço assado, a tomato and tuna salad, or a plate of Portuguese cheeses and presunto.
About Vale da Capucha
The Marques family grew grapes for four generations before Pedro Marques began bottling estate wines. He farms Portuguese varieties organically on limestone and clay, about 10 km from the sea.
