Um Terço Piri Piri Compote

Um Terço Piri Piri Compote is a sweet and spicy chilli compote made with piri piri, the small hot chilli at the heart of Portuguese cooking. A jar for people who like a little fire on the cheese board, and a fun gift for chilli lovers.

Flavour and texture

A chilli compote plays sweet against heat: a jammy sweetness first, then the bright, building warmth of piri piri.

Food pairing

Serve it with queijo fresco, goat's cheese or a cured sheep's cheese, brush it on grilled chicken or pork, or add it to a burger. A fruity Alentejo red or a cold beer cools things down.

About Um Terço

Piri piri arrived in Portugal through its African connections and became a pillar of Portuguese cooking, from frango piri piri to the little bottle of hot oil on every grill house table. We could not find much published about Um Terço itself, so ask us at the shop if you want to know more.
