Quinta do Perdigão Noel Red 2015

Quinta do Perdigão Noel Red 2015 is a Portuguese red wine from the Dão, made by a family estate in Silgueiros, near Viseu. With ten years behind it, this is a chance to drink a Dão red at the age when the region's wines start to show their best.

Tasting notes

Dão reds come from granite soils ringed by mountains, and they are known for freshness and fine structure rather than weight. With age, expect the fruit to move towards dried cherry and plum, with forest floor, cedar and spice, and tannins that have softened.

Food pairing

Serve it with roast kid (cabrito), duck rice (arroz de pato), game, a mushroom risotto or a mature Serra da Estrela.

Good to know

• Serve at 16-18 °C. Stand the bottle up a day before and decant gently, as older reds can throw a deposit. Keeps 2 days once opened.
