Quinta do Perdigão Alfrocheiro Red 2018

Quinta do Perdigão Alfrocheiro Red 2018 is a Portuguese red wine from the Dão, made entirely from Alfrocheiro by Quinta do Perdigão in Silgueiros. Alfrocheiro is usually a blending grape, so a single-variety bottle is a rare chance to taste it on its own. A great pick for curious wine lovers.

Tasting notes

Alfrocheiro is known for deep colour, ripe red and black berries such as blackberry and strawberry, a peppery spice and fine, supple tannins with good freshness. In the Dão's granite soils it gains a lifted, elegant side. With a few years in bottle, the 2018 is opening towards spice and savoury notes.

Food pairing

Pair it with grilled lamb chops, roast pork, a feijoada, or a semi-cured sheep's cheese.

Quinta do Perdigão is an estate in Silgueiros, in the heart of the Dão, that bottles single-variety reds alongside its blends, plus an Encruzado white and a rosé. Its current list runs from older Reserva and Tinto vintages to recent whites and rosés.
