Profetas e Villões
Profetas e Villões Vinho da Corda dos Profetas
Pickup currently not available
Vinho da Corda dos Profetas is a wine from Porto Santo, the small island next to Madeira, made by Profetas e Villões from the island’s old, low-growing vineyards. Porto Santo is one of the rarest wine origins in Portugal. This bottle belongs to a small range that brings the island’s forgotten wines back to the table.
Tasting notes
Porto Santo wines grow in sandy, limestone soils swept by Atlantic wind, which gives them a salty, mineral character and sharp acidity. Expect a wine of tension and freshness, closer to the sea than to ripe fruit. Ask our team in the shop for the details of the current bottling.
Food pairing
Pour it with grilled fish, limpets with lemon, octopus, espada or a plate of Madeiran bolo do caco with garlic butter.
About Profetas e Villões
Profetas e Villões is a wine company launched in 2021 by winemaker António Maçanita and Madeiran restaurateur Nuno Faria to revive Porto Santo’s low-growing vineyards. The name plays on the friendly rivalry between Porto Santo islanders, the “profetas”, and Madeirans, the “villões”.
