Passo de Gigante Moda Velha Pet Nat Sparkling

Passo de Gigante Moda Velha is a Portuguese pet nat, a naturally sparkling wine made "à moda velha", the old-fashioned way. It is light, lively and easy to share, a bottle for aperitifs, picnics and the first warm evenings of the year.

Tasting notes

Pet nats finish fermenting in the bottle, which gives soft, fine bubbles and sometimes a light haze from the lees. The style tends to be fresh and fruity, with orchard fruit, a touch of yeast and a crisp, dry finish. Give the bottle a gentle tilt before serving if you like it cloudy.

Food pairing

Open it with fried snacks such as rissóis or pastéis de bacalhau, a plate of presunto, fresh cheeses or a simple tomato salad.

About pét-nat

Pétillant naturel is the oldest way to make sparkling wine: the wine is bottled before the first fermentation ends, so the bubbles come from the grapes' own sugar. Portuguese growers have embraced the style for its freshness and honesty.
