Monte da Vinha Sheep's Milk Cheese, Small

This is a Portuguese sheep's milk cheese from Monte da Vinha. The small format is right for two or for a picnic. It is an easy, generous cheese for the table, with all the richness of Portuguese sheep's milk.

Flavour and texture

Portuguese sheep's milk cheeses are rich and rounded, with a buttery, slightly salty taste and, when the milk is curdled with thistle, a gentle bitter edge. Softer, younger cheeses turn creamy at room temperature, while firmer ones slice cleanly.

Food pairing

Serve it at room temperature with bread, olives and a little quince paste. It is lovely with presunto or chouriço on a sharing board. For wine, try an Alentejo red, a Bucelas Arinto or a chilled Moscatel de Setúbal.
