Monte da Vinha Sheep's Milk Cheese, Large

This is a Portuguese sheep's milk cheese from Monte da Vinha. The large format is made for a table of friends. It is an easy, generous cheese for the table, with all the richness of Portuguese sheep's milk.

Flavour and texture

Portuguese sheep's milk cheeses are rich and rounded, with a buttery, slightly salty taste and, when the milk is curdled with thistle, a gentle bitter edge. Softer, younger cheeses turn creamy at room temperature, while firmer ones slice cleanly.

Food pairing

Serve it at room temperature with bread, olives and a little quince paste. It is lovely with presunto or chouriço on a sharing board. For wine, try an Alentejo red, a Bucelas Arinto or a chilled Moscatel de Setúbal.
