Luís Seabra Xisto Ilimitado Red

Xisto Ilimitado is a Douro red wine from Luís Seabra, a field blend of old-vine grapes such as Touriga Franca, Tinta Amarela and Tinta Roriz grown on schist. It shows a different Douro: lighter, fresher and more transparent than the classic, powerful style. A red for people who like elegance and drinkability.

Tasting notes

Recent vintages come from vines planted between 1960 and 1980 in the Cima Corgo, fermented with whole clusters and native yeasts, partly foot-trodden in stone lagares. Reviewers describe pomegranate, blueberry, orange peel, a floral lift, fine tannins and a dry finish.

Food pairing

Try it with roast lamb, grilled sardines on bread, ratatouille, duck breast or a mushroom risotto.

Luís Seabra worked for years as a winemaker for well-known Douro houses before starting his own label. He makes low-intervention wines that put the site first, from the Douro, Vinho Verde and Dão.
