Pickup currently not available
Horácio Simões Excellent Moscatel Roxo de Setúbal is an aged Portuguese fortified wine from the Setúbal peninsula, made by Casa Agrícola Horácio Simões from the rare pink-skinned Moscatel Roxo grape. It is the family's top Moscatel Roxo, produced in tiny quantities, and a bottle for a special evening or a serious wine lover.
Tasting notes
A UK wine writer describes a blend of best barrels from several vintages, aged around 10 years in used 225-litre French oak, with about 19% alcohol. In the glass: amber and bronze, caramel, praline, toasted anise and cinnamon, then caramelised orange, dried fig and dates, held up by fresh acidity.
Food pairing
Pour it with a crème brûlée, toasted almond tart, aged Azeitão or Serra da Estrela cheese, or simply with a good espresso.
