Herdade do Cebolal Rossio White is a Portuguese white wine from the Alentejo, made from a single old-vine plot planted with native grape varieties. Old vines, one parcel, local grapes: this is a white made to show a place, not a recipe. A serious bottle for a good dinner.

Tasting notes

Old vines give small yields and concentrated grapes, and field blends of native Portuguese varieties usually bring a mix of citrus, stone fruit, herbs and a firm, savoury structure. Expect a textured, dry white with depth and a long finish. Serve it not too cold so it can open up.

Food pairing

Pair it with açorda de marisco, grilled sea bream, roast pork with clams, or a creamy Serpa or Nisa cheese.
