Flor da Selva
Flor da Selva Angola Vissolela Coffee
Flor da Selva Angola Vissolela Coffee is a Portuguese coffee from Lisbon, roasted over firewood by Flor da Selva from Vissolela coffee grown in Angola. It is a coffee with deep roots in Portuguese café culture, for the first bica of the morning or a slow cup after lunch.
Tasting notes
Angola was once one of the great coffee producers of the world, and its beans have filled Portuguese cups for generations. Angolan coffee is typically full bodied and round, with low acidity and notes of dark chocolate, toasted bread and a gentle bitterness. The slow wood roast adds a warm, slightly smoky edge.
Food pairing
Serve it as an espresso with a pastel de nata or a bolo de arroz. It also stands up well to milk, so try it as a galão with a slice of toast and butter, Lisbon style.
About Flor da Selva
Flor da Selva is a small family coffee roaster in the Madragoa quarter of Lisbon, founded in 1950 by Manuel Monteiro. It is one of the last roasters in the city that still roasts over firewood, the way it did from the start. The Monteiro family still runs it, and the bags keep the look of Portuguese coffee packaging from the 1950s. No additives, just coffee.
