Etnom
Etnom Canada dos Ladrões Verdelho White
Etnom Canada dos Ladrões Verdelho is a rare Portuguese white wine from Pico island in the Azores, made from 100% Verdelho by the young Pico winemaker Cátia Laranjo. Volcanic soil, Atlantic wind and tiny yields: this is one of the most sought-after styles in Portugal right now, and bottles are scarce.
Tasting notes
Verdelho from Pico is known for its saline, volcanic character and bright acidity. Critics note that this cuvée shows the richer green fruit of the grape, with a firm, mineral line that keeps it fresh.
Food pairing
Pour it with lapas grelhadas (grilled limpets), cracas, grilled wreckfish, raw oysters, or a wedge of São Jorge cheese.
About Etnom
Cátia Laranjo worked for several years at the Azores Wine Company before founding Etnom in 2020. The name is her village, Monte, spelled backwards, and Canada dos Ladrões is named after a path she has walked since childhood.
