Duckman
Duckman White Spark Duck Sparkling
Pickup currently not available
Duckman White Spark Duck is a dry Portuguese sparkling wine from Bairrada, made from the local Maria Gomes grape by Maria Pato, daughter of the Bairrada winemaker Luís Pato. It is a light, thirst-quenching bottle with fine bubbles, the kind you open at the start of the evening and finish faster than planned.
Tasting notes
Expect green apple, lemon zest and a salty edge, then a bone-dry palate with small, lively bubbles and a clean finish. The wine is made with minimal intervention and bottled without fining or filtration, so a light haze is normal.
Food pairing
Try it with grilled sardines, steamed clams, shrimp tempura or a plate of salted almonds and presunto. It also works with leitão à Bairrada, the region's roast suckling pig.
About Duckman
Duckman is the natural wine project of Maria Pato, who grew up in one of Bairrada's best-known wine families. Pato means duck in Portuguese, hence the name, and the wines rely on native grapes and a hands-off approach in the cellar.
