Dalva
Dalva 40 Year Old Tawny Port
Pickup currently not available
Dalva 40 Year Old Tawny Port is a rare fortified wine from the Douro, blended from Ports aged for an average of four decades in oak casks by the Gaia house C. da Silva. This is Port at its most concentrated and contemplative, a bottle for a milestone or a very special gift.
Tasting notes
Forty years in wood turn Port deep amber with an olive-green rim. Old tawnies of this age show dried figs, walnuts, orange peel, toffee, coffee and old spice, with a dense, silky palate and a finish that lasts for minutes. A small glass goes a long way.
Food pairing
Serve it with dark chocolate, a crème brûlée, dried fruit and nuts, or a strong blue cheese. Many people prefer it on its own, after dinner.
