Convento dos Cardaes
Convento dos Cardaes Oat Biscotti
Pickup currently not available
Convento dos Cardaes Oat Biscotti is a Portuguese oat biscotti sold by the Convento dos Cardaes, a 17th-century convent in Príncipe Real, Lisbon. A simple, honest biscuit to dip in a coffee and to bring home a small taste of Lisbon.
Flavour and texture
These biscotti are baked until dry and crunchy, made with oats for a wholesome, slightly toasty flavour. They are crisp and not too sweet, the kind of biscuit that softens beautifully when dipped.
Food pairing
Dip them in a bica or a galão, or serve them with a glass of Moscatel de Setúbal or a tawny Port after dinner.
About the Convento dos Cardaes
The Convento dos Cardaes is a 17th-century convent in Príncipe Real, Lisbon, built between 1677 and 1703 and one of the few to survive the 1755 earthquake. Since 1948 it has been home to the Associação Nossa Senhora Consoladora dos Aflitos, which cares there for women with multiple disabilities. Its small shop is known for biscuits and jams made inside the convent.
