Convento dos Cardaes Apricot Jam 250 ml is a Portuguese apricot jam from Lisbon, from the 17th century Convento dos Cardaes. A sunny jar for breakfast and for the cheese board.
Flavour and texture
Apricot jam is bright and golden, with a balance of sweetness and fresh, gentle acidity, and a soft, fruity texture.
Food pairing
Spread it on toast or croissants, fill a sponge cake, or serve it with a fresh goat's cheese or a mild sheep's cheese. A Moscatel de Setúbal is a lovely match.
About the Convento dos Cardaes
The Convento dos Cardaes, on Rua do Século in Lisbon, was founded in 1681 for Discalced Carmelite nuns and came through the 1755 earthquake. Since the late 19th century it has been home to an institution caring for women with special needs, with the help of Dominican sisters. Its jams and biscuits are sold to support the house, so every jar does a little good.
