Convento dos Cardaes Apple Jelly 212 ml
Pickup currently not available
Convento dos Cardaes Apple Jelly 212 ml is a Portuguese fruit jelly from Lisbon, made at the 17th-century Convento dos Cardaes. A versatile jar that moves easily from the breakfast table to the cheese board.
Flavour and texture
Apple jelly is smooth and clear, with a gentle, fresh apple sweetness and a soft acidity. It is delicate on its own and generous with other flavours.
Food pairing
Serve it with cheeses, roast pork or a terrine, or simply on toast. It is lovely with a glass of Vinho Verde or a Moscatel.
About Convento dos Cardaes
The Convento dos Cardaes stands on Rua do Século, between Bairro Alto and Príncipe Real. It was founded in 1681 for Carmelite nuns and came through the 1755 earthquake with its gilded chapel and Dutch tile panels intact. Its small shop sells jams and biscuits made at the convent, and the house still welcomes young adults with special needs.
