Confibor
Confibor Elvas Plums in Syrup 300 g
Confibor Elvas Plums in Syrup 300 g is a Portuguese preserved fruit from Elvas, in the Alentejo, made with greengage plums slowly cooked in syrup. A classic Portuguese dessert to bring home, or to serve after a long lunch.
Flavour and texture
Elvas plums are tender and juicy, with a deep honeyed sweetness and a light tartness that keeps them fresh. The syrup is golden and fragrant.
Food pairing
Serve two or three plums with their syrup over vanilla ice cream, sericaia (the Alentejo egg cake), a slice of fresh cheese or Greek yogurt. Pour a Moscatel de Setúbal or a tawny Port.
About Confibor
Confibor makes preserved fruit in the tradition of Elvas, a fortified town in the Alentejo near the Spanish border. Elvas plums are greengages of the Rainha Cláudia Verde variety, slowly preserved in syrup, and the name is protected as Ameixa d'Elvas DOP. Elvas preserved fruit has been a treasured Portuguese sweet for centuries.
