Caves Velhas Curvada de Velha Old Wine Brandy 70 cl

Caves Velhas Curvada de Velha is a Portuguese old wine brandy, an aguardente vínica velha distilled from wine and aged in Limousin oak casks by the Portuguese house Caves Velhas. It is the kind of bottle that used to sit on the sideboard of every Portuguese family, poured after Sunday lunch, and it still does that job very well.

Tasting notes

Aged Portuguese wine brandies of this style usually show amber colour and notes of dried fruit, vanilla and toasted wood from the oak, with a warm, rounded finish. Pour a small measure into a tulip glass and give it a few minutes before you taste.

Food pairing

Serve it after dinner with a bica, the short Lisbon espresso, or with dark chocolate, roasted almonds, dried figs or an almond tart. A splash in the coffee makes the traditional Portuguese cheirinho.
