Caves São João Porta dos Cavaleiros Colheita White 1984

Porta dos Cavaleiros Colheita White 1984 is a mature Dão white wine from Caves São João, released after four decades in the producer’s cellar. Mature Portuguese whites of this age are rare. This is a chance to taste what time does to a Portuguese white from granite soils, and a bottle with a story to tell.

Tasting notes

Old Dão whites usually turn deep gold, with notes of dried fruit, beeswax, nuts and toasted bread, while the region’s natural acidity keeps them alive and fresh on the finish. Each old bottle is unique, so open it with curiosity.

Food pairing

Serve it with a mature Serra da Estrela cheese, roasted bacalhau with olive oil, a mushroom risotto or veal in a cream sauce.

About Caves São João

Caves São João was founded in 1920 by the Costa brothers and is still run by the family in Anadia. Best known for Bairrada, it created the Porta dos Cavaleiros brand in the Dão and is famous for releasing old library vintages.
