Caves São João Bruto Sparkling

Caves São João Bruto is a dry Portuguese sparkling wine (espumante bruto) from Bairrada, made by Caves São João, one of the oldest family wine houses of the region. It is an honest, affordable bottle of bubbles for aperitifs, parties and Sunday lunches.

Tasting notes

Bairrada sparkling wines are known for their fresh acidity and fine bubbles, thanks to the cool Atlantic influence and the region's clay-limestone soils. Expect a crisp, dry palate with citrus, green apple and light toasty notes.

Food pairing

Pair it with leitão à Bairrada, the region's famous roast suckling pig, with rissóis and croquetes, fried fish, or a seafood platter.

About Caves São João

Caves São João was founded in 1920 by the brothers José, Manuel and Albano Costa and is the oldest family wine company still working in Anadia, in Bairrada. Its sparkling wines are made by the traditional method, with a second fermentation in the bottle.
